So did you first pick up a DSLR in 2006 then?

Yep, bought a 350D with kit lens in October 2006. Then towards the end of 2008 I bought the 40D, then the 5D2 in October 2010.

....Theres something about Octobers in 2 year intervals that are proving to be expensive
