nice shots matey. What ISO were you pushing for those indoor shots? Looks pretty high, but not in a bad way!

Thanks SP, I didn't bust out a flash at all this wedding.
During the speeches I was at around 1600 - 3200
During first dance, around 6400 - 12800.
I expose to the left by around a stop, so effective ISO's are probably roughly a stop higher.

Yes that's exactly why. Mostly it means I get to keep highlight detail and decide later if I want to keep it or not. For example I may shoot a silhouette then if I change my mind at my computer because I like their expression or something, it's not a big issue. Also occasionally it saves the odd shot that ends up way over exposed.

I've always liked your stuff even if I have found some of the reflection/through a crowd pictures a little odd/awkward but I'm really not sure about the new blury panning/walking shots you seem to have added. I know it's all your style and it sells but for me they just jar against the quality of everything else.

Love the processing as always, I know some people find the grain etc a bit marmite but it really suits the subject for me and avoids the over sharp digital look that a lot of wedding togs produce that I'm not so keen on.

Thanks Alex. I half agree with you actually, it's just I like to keep trying to push myself and incorporate different techniques and add variety/interest.

With the below shot, if I did it again I wouldn't of panned. Instead kept the bus sharp and let the people blur, and then picked off a few moments/expressions with the 85mm.

Nice work as always mate. How do you find the evening shots when it comes to getting them printed in an album? Personally I don't mind noise but I always have our 16"x12" album in the back of my mind when it comes to high ISO.

Also regarding the camera men....I share your pain. Had a nightmare recently but won't post it on here.

At least for wedding work, atmosphere, content and emotion are what I care about most. I could add a flash to reduce noise, but it would also change the atmosphere from how it really is. I may need to wait for my flash to recycle, and miss content (happens occasionally during dancing) and so on.
It's a compromise (as always ), but I value allot of other factors above noise. In black & white, I'd be happy with a 200" ISO 12800 print. Yes the noise would be there but I like it, like I like the sound of crackling Vinyl over clean MP3 files sometimes.

what vsco presets do you use on your images?

I don't use VSCO presets. I have tried them out of curiosity and some are kind of similar. According to Raymond & I agree as well, Kodak E100G is close to my processing. (use some fade to lift shadows etc though) unless you prefer a little more contrast.

I generally don't use flash at all until the first dance, and even then I never seem to be happy with it.

I sometimes use bounced on camera flash if I don't feel brave enough.
I don't use it, but I do think backlit flash can work really well. For times I need a little something to bolster the ambient, I'm tempted to use a flash on camera purely for AF assist, and as a commander to fire off a subtle backlight (with warm filter on).
The only problem is I move around allot so some of the pictures will have a nice backlight, and some would be bare direct flash. I would have to find a way to enable/disable them quickly on the fly.
