I have a Crosshair V mobo and an FX8150 cpu. I've been trying to overclock it to 4.5Ghz (which is my target) but I just can't get it stable.
I have set LLC to high, so the voltage is pretty much whatever I set it as. I have so far got the following stable (well 1hr prime95 stable):
CPU: 230 x 18 = 4140 @ 1.3v
CPU-NB: 230 x 11 = 2530 @ 1.25v
HT Link: 230 x 11 = 2530 @ stock?
RAM: 230 x 4 = 920 (1840) @ 1.65v
Temps stay at 46 maximum.
I tried upping the CPU multiplier to 19.5 to give me 4485, and I left everything else as it was before. It booted fine but a few workers in prime errored instantly. So I increased the voltage by a couple of notches, but got the same near instant fail in prime (the system never crashed, just prime reported a wrong result.)
I continued to increase vcore until I got to 1.4125 which is the most I'm willing to use 24/7. Yet prime still errored after a couple of minutes.
I then reduced all the multipliers so CPU-NB, RAM and HT link were back at roughly default speeds, but left the CPU at 4485 @ 1.4125v, but still no luck.
What else can I try? Or is 4.5 just too much for my chip?
