cigar humidor advice

Sounds like its not working properly, humidors are supposed to be at 68-72% humidity, as far as I know. Humidors will change, obviously, as its surroundings do too - but this should be normal and shouldn't have resulted in your cigars being unsmokable.

When did you buy it? I'd send it back.

Your cigars shouldn't be unsmokable if the humidity is 67%. How long have they been in there? Were they previously stored in a high humidity environment? Is the wood of the humidor damp at all?

The cigars were in the humidor for about 3 months.

I've had the humidor for about 3 years now. My dad was seriously ill when I bought it so I did not use it straight away.

my irony spidy sense is buzzing,

please tell me he wasnt seriously ill with a smoking related issue?

Yeah people who get their nicotine without exposing themselves to the toxins of tobacco smoke are such idiots, what are they thinking!

People who smoke fine cigars on the odd occasion do so for the taste. Its not like they go through 20+ a day to satisfy their nicotine cravings. The video shows a product which totally defeats the purpose of cigars, by removing the only real reason people smoke them.

I didn't realise this was a thread where the OP was asking on the effects on his health of smoking cigars?

The problem is last year I had some cigars in the humidor and they were soft and Unsmokable.

I notice you said last year, are there currently any cigars in the humidor and if so what condition are they in?

Humidity can fluctuate a bit with no dire concequences, however as others have suggested perhaps your hydrometer may not be reading correctly. Only cigars kept at around 75%+ humidity will be wet.

Really? Hanibal from the A-Team smoked fine cigars and he was never seen without one. :D

And actually, there's far more flavour in vaporised liquid than you'll ever get from smoke so I dunno whereyou get the idea the e-cigar is flavourless (and you can use them indoors).

Anyway, I'll bugger off...sorry for introducing an alternative.

I was using a Western Caliber III Digital Hygrometer. Was told when bought it, it did not need to be salt tested because it had an accuracy of +/- 1%.

You cant calibrate it either, it gets mixed reviews with some people claiming 10% out. Perhaps a new one is in order?

My humidor tends to bounce between 60 and 70, but i've never noticed them becoming unsmokeable tbh, I am using those RH pads, just a sponge form of the beads I think. Is there any way of getting lower RH beads?
