Hi

Dropped my car in at the garage as the cig lighter hasn't worked since I bought it. I assumed it'd be a simple fuse swap. However the garage state there is no power coming to it at all despite new fuse. The next step is them calling in an electrician to have a look who charges 50 quid an hour.

Any idea what it could be?

I don't mind paying that but it'd be good to have some knowledge of what the problem is likely to be and how long it should take. As he could say it's a big 3 hour job and I wouldn't really know.

Thanks

Could be many things. I had the same problem on the rear lighter socket on the wife's S-Max which turned out to simply be that the connector from behind the socket had somehow been unplugged. After a bit of effort and slicing my hand and arm up a bit I'd sorted it out.

It could be something as simple as that or it could be broken/damaged wiring somewhere from between the socket and the fusebox or the ground wire.
