Cineworld preparing to file for bankruptcy

That's really disappointing to hear. I have been watching Cineworld for years. Hopefully another group can buy them out and continue.

They have been great imo. Convenient with locations all over the country where you can go at your own time to suit your schedule.

Not surprised, the cinema has had its day, too expensive, inconvenient, and the experience is often ruined by morons.

This....

I haven't been for years, but don't get wrong it's a great experience compared to watching anything at home

Be a shame if it does go under as I've been a Cineworld member since 2010 and go on average every 2 weeks.

Was tempted to invest when covid tanked it, figured the whole cinema concept would go the way of the dodo once everyone used netflix instead during covid, now everyone bailed on both lol.

Not good.

Cinema is vital for customers.

You get to vote with your money instead of watching what you are given with streaming services.

I go to the cinema once every few months to see some sci-fi or horror which I hope is good [it's not]. Every time I go it's about 1/4 full. I honestly don't know how Odeon are staying afloat.

The only way to combat the 'morons' issue would be to stream the audio on Bluetooth.

Yeah great, more superhero films {vomit}.

Grim, but unsurprising. It must be costing a fortune in utilities nowadays to run the sites when only a smattering of people are going to each film.

We went to see Nope at Odeon on Weds evening. Probably less than 20 people there

i went to see the new thor a month or so back and there was our group (6 adults) and 2 others in the cinema. was awesome and nice and quiet but obviously not a sustainable business model.
