Circuit breaker goes when I reset my computer. Bad?

It's been doing this for a while, when reset using the psu switch everything not running on batteries goes off. Soft reset doesn't do this. House is about a decade old so circuitry is probably good, it did this in my last place as well.

I think there's a 3kW limit on the circuitry in this room which is being pushed over the edge. I can also trigger the breaker by using a microwave, pc and kettle at the same time. I'm not overly worried but I thought I'd ask the forums opinion.

Cheers

Yeah, sounds like you're tripping it from too much juice through that one circuit.

It might be that the PSU in your PC is slightly faulty, and drawing too much current to "spin up". Probably nothing to worry about though, just don't use the switch on the PSU... Problem solved.

Hey Jon

Electrics isn't my field of expertise and although i wouldn't be overly concerned about the problem i would like to identify the problem - just in case the above combination tripped the PC when i was in the middle of doing something important or the trips started to became more random in nature.

You may want to consider registering with an electrical forum - link - and re-post the above in the general discussion forum. I've resolved a couple of electrical problems via forums - the only skill required is being able to explain your problem descriptively and succinctly, a skill you have with knobs on (that and trusting the advice given in response - but if someone was to give erroneous advice there's usually someone who will chip in and correct it - very much like this place).

Good luck with it.

EDIT: Just noticed you've finally got 12gig installed and are in the process of comprehensive testing clock settings - interesting thread.

Good luck hitting 1600MHz - i'm sure with your obsessive attention to detail you'll discover the magic BIOS settings combo. If you don't i suspect the Asus MB thread may re-appear again?.. :).
