Hi guys, I'm having some issues with one of my Cisco routers, when starting it up, i get the following message then nothing:

System Bootstrap, Version 11.0(10c), SOFTWARE
Copyright (c) 1986-1996 by cisco Systems

Can anyone offer some advice as to why it doesn't move passed this step and carry on the boot-up?

And yes, I am very new to this stuff if you were wondering.

Cheers!

How long have you left it after this point? You get nothing else at all, no "self-decompressing #############################################" message?

If you are leaving it for a good 5-10 minutes and you get nothing, then I would suggest that it has a corrupt IOS image, and you'll need to force it into ROMMON mode in order to re-flash it.

ROMMON is going to be the only way out of that one.

Question is, do you have an IOS image for it (or another one to get it off)?

I left the router for a good while and it eventually booted up fine, but it did crash (i think) and go through the whole boot up again. I do have another 2501 that I can get the IOS off.

I did get an error message, but i forgot to save it. I'll start it up again and get the error message that comes up.

Edit: This is the message when it finally gets going

Notice: NVRAM invalid, possibly due to write erase.

Ok can't really do anything with the router now, all that happens when I start up is:

System Bootstrap, Version 11.0(10c), SOFTWARE
Copyright (c) 1986-1996 by cisco Systems

failed, SCR read 0x00000000(masked), expected 0x0000C200

Then no response at all, cant get it into Rommon either :(

Any ideas? Or is it borked?

No such luck, throwing the same error. Spoke to my bro, going to try some other RAM from another Cisco, see what happens.
