ok so i`m messsing around with a Cisco 2621 and ahve it connected to the switch of my Netgear DG834.........FE 0/1 configured as 192.168.0.20 no dhcp from the netgear etc, other nodes static IPs also......now when I boot Cisco up initially everything is fine adn I can ping the Netgear ok (192.168.0.1), then after about 5 mins it refuses to ping only 192.168.0.1, it WILL ping other nodes and other nodes will still ping it, I`ve looked at the interface and its showing no errors or anything suspicious, I`ve also configured the other Ethernet interface in the same way and it does exactly the same, when I hard set the speed or duplex it works ok again for 5 mins or so then loses it again.........I also added a static ARP mapping to no avail..beginning to think that the Netgear and Cisco simply dont like each other, I also configured a loopback on the Cisco and it pings fine all the time as do pings to other nodes on the 192.168.0.0 network.......ultimately I plan on getting an ADSL module for the Cisco so it wont matter...unless of course there is an issue with the Cisco itself though it doesnt seem point to that..........
