I have a Cisco 3560 24 Port Module. I'm wanting to plug my Modem/Router in one of the ports to give all ports access to the internet. What would I need to do to set that up? I'm currently working on getting the switch reset so I can start fresh. I'll make hostname and set password. Would I have to assign IP for each port after doing that? Sorry for all the questions I'm trying to learn more about Cisco switches.

If I need to provide more information I will do so.

Have a great day.

You don't assign an IP to a switch (unless it's a layer 3 switch), it's a layer 2 device. I'd suggest watching some ICND1 based videos to get your head around it a little more.

Do i have to use SFP? Or can I plug straight into one of the ports? I understand if I have to use SFP I'll need a crossover cable but I don't have a copper feed adapter to plug in SFP

You plug straight into one of the ports, I have a 3560 in my lab and pretty sure it auto senses too.

It's plug and play for your needs.

If you want to learn how to use it properly, the 3560's have a lot of protocols on them you can play with, especially if it's an X series.

I would assume you are on IOS 12.something, so a config guide like this one would be a good place to start if you want learn for the sake of learning:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/do.../12-2_58_se/configuration/guide/3750xscg.html

If you want to learn it for a new career, look into certification tracks.
