Hi guys,

as the title suggests, I'm trying to configure my new Cisco 1240AG Aironet Access point to act as a repeater to the Cisco 1800 series wireless router I've got.

I've gone through the whole IOS process of assigning an IP to the access point bvi1 interface statically, so I could access the web interface. I thought it would be pretty straightforward from there but I'm having a few problems =(

If i set the Radio0-802.11G to act as a repeater, it disables the interface altogether.

I am really pretty noobish with cisco and although I'm very comfortable with all other things to do with networking, cisco is another thing altogether. I've done the simple tasks as described above but I just cant get it to 'detect' the present Wireless signal from the 1800 router.

If any1 could put me in the right direction some links or advice I'd really appreciate it.

Many thanks

Sorry for asking the obvious, but have you setup the AP1200 with all the SSID and WEP/WPA settings of the 1800? Tried it just as a standard root AP to make sure it is working okay? You also need at least 50% overlap of the wireless signal for the repeater to work.

hi guys thanks for the advice :)

I tried setting it up initially as an Access Point with the same SSID and WEP settings as the 1800 access root point, however the access point just seems to be creating its own SSID and is not comminicating with the 1800 router at all :S

any ideas :S its got a full signal, I can see the two separate networks with same SSID names :S
