I was planning on getting a Netgear router, but the shop I was going to get it from have all of a sudden removed all Netgear stock and are only selling Linksys routers now... strange. (I can't get it from OCUK before you suggest that :p)

I've generally always bought Netgear stuff and I like them but the specs on these Cisco routers seem fairly decent, does anyone have one or recommend them?

It would be the E3200 or E4200 model I think.

I have the x3000 which is supposed to be one of the best, however the first one I got fell over when I streamed videos and the replacement I got has to be continuously rebooted as the performance degrades every few days. Very disappointed in the quality of this product as it's well spec'd :(

I have an E3000 and it's great. Running two 5GHz wireless desktops off it, along with two wired desktops, a media streamer, a NAS, two laptops and an iPad. No problems at all and the wireless strength is far better than the DGL-4300 I had before.

I'd go for the E3200 as the E4200's main benefit is the 450Mbps speed which only a handful of wireless cards support.

It all depends on how you set it up, to get best performance its advisable to tweak for your parituclar network topography

I have 2 linksys E3000s, one of them runs DD-wrt mini, the other dd-wrt mega. Both are flawless in what they do, the only potential issue I've come across is that the router running dd-wrt mega can get a little hot if I try and run something a little too intensive on it.

Well, the E3200 model looks a good bet so I'll go for that. It's £75 here so pretty cheap.

I think any benefits of the 4200 would be lost.
