Need to upgrade the firmware on a Cisco 857 ADSL router, only had it a week or two but how on earth do you download the firmware, looked through the cisco site and couldent find anything?

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appriciated!

(ps in downloading i mean physically obtaining the firmware file, NOT copying accross to router)

Go to cisco.com, choose the option to log in (right hand side of the screen). Enter your login details then you'll be taken back to the Cisco homepage.

Under the 'Direct Access' header there is a drop down list, choose 'Cisco IOS Software' and navigate your way through to find the IOS you want.

If you don't have a login, then you can't get the IOS.

There are varying levels of support. Just buying the router doesn't get you IOS upgrades. The exception to that is if a security hole is found in it, in which case the new IOS will be available.

If you want to be able to download IOS, you need to look at something like a Cisco SmartNet contract.
