If you have a cisco pix 506e that needs to be reset and you don't have any serial ports on your laptop. How screwed am I?

I could get a serial port converter I suppose, but I need it right now:(

Do not have a desktop or something with a serial port you can just sit the pix next to for a min?

you only have two options...

either find a machine with a serial port...

or get a usb to serial bridge...

neither of which are 'right now', but they are your only options...

edit: i think you might have a third option too actually, but there are caveats... they are: can you remember the ip address of the inside interface? did you setup either telnet or ssh access? can you actually wipe the config from a virtual terminal session, or does it have to be console access? i can't remember, it's been a while.

I do have the ip address of the inside interface. The pix was set up by someone who left without passing on any documentation. The only ports open are telnet, smtp according to my port scanner.
