been looking on their site, but cant find anything....

I was looking for a 4 or 8 port gig switch/router with N wireless, but it doesn't look like they do one...

Looks like Im stuck with my Linksys 610N, which doesn't support vlans :mad:

dd-wrt for this router is getting there, but that also doesn't support vlans..

Lol,

If you want that kind of specification from cisco kit, you are looking at standalone items.

Cisco = expensive.

Granted I'll not use anything but cisco, but you won't find an all in one product from them like this.

Damned few people do routers with 8 ports at all, let alone GigE. Of course, you haven't said what you're going to connect it to either.

Its going to be connected to my 50Mb cable modem, with 3 wired devices in the living room and then an old 24 port 2950 in the study as well as 2 ports in my bedroom and another 2 ports in the kitchen..
The linksys is OK, but the firmware doesn't really give that many options and I wanted to vlan off some of the ports...

But any reason why 1) it has to be gigabit 2) it has to be wireless?

If you were serious about needing the featureset of enterprise level kit, then 1) you'd realise that gigabit on your router is pointless, given your 50Mb bottleneck on the WAN side, 100Mbit ports are more than adequate, 2) You'd be better off with a layer 3 switch for your VLANing, and gigabit Layer 3 cisco switches cost an utter fortune, and 3) You'd be better off with a standalone, decent AP like a 1242.

Grab a used 2651XM or 2691 (maybe an 1841 if you get an utter bargain, these still go for decent money on the auction site though). Then get yourself an AP of choice (personally I like the 1242's). Switching will be the hard part, you either dump the gigabit requirement and get a 3500 series, or you get lucky and find a 3550-12G (GBIC based), and fill it with RJ45 GBICs.

I understand where the bottleneck is for the WAN, but for internal transfers, such as 20Gb bluray it would be nice, though not essential.
I have got used to all in one units for home use I guess, I have had netgear and Linksys that give me gig ports and wireless, so was having a browse round the cisco site to see if they were offering anything - hence the question as I didn't see anything..

I already have a fair bit of cisco kit, including 2 x 1250 series AP's which I like so will think about having a consolidation instead of a network re-design....
