Hi there,

I have a WS-1924A with version 9.0 of the ios. I need an ios with the command line interface not just the menu one that i am getting. What ios do i need also would i be able to put enterprise ios on a A model or ont ?

Also whare can i get ion's so i can practice fr my CCNA

Ta :)

Version 9? Blimey, that's seriously old. From what I remember, the 1900 series Catalysts can only take IOS upto 9.00.07 and that's menu driven.

apparently i can put the enterprise firmware on the 1924 A switch and the enterpirse has the CLI. So.....

Help does anyone have a backup of the firmware or know where I can get it. BTW before ppl ask i am not a CCIE and dont know one to ask them to get it from cisco for me.

Thanks

It would be illegal to give you the IOS, so sorry, can't help you. In any case, I don't see an enterprise IOS listed for the 1924A.

Cisco 1900s are not an IOS switch, you cannot get any form of IOS for a 1900.. The enterprise version of the 1900 software allows you to use a command line which is in some ways similar to IOS but I wouldn't recommend it for CCNA practise as the commands for things like Vlan membership are completley different to actual IOS used today, 1900s also only do older ISL trunking and won't do the modern stuff like dot1q which is also required for stuff like CCNA.
My advice is sell the switch on "The auction site" and buy a 2900XL which can be bought for around £100 and is a native IOS switch.

Most labs have two sets of instructions one for 1900 series and one for 2900 upwards. I did my CCNA on 1900s at college.
1900s will do VTP. It's the router that needs a FastEthernet interface for dot1q and VTP.
I never did practical VTP etc for CCNA it's only one lab and there's rarely much in the way of examination on it.

I too would reccomend ditching the 1900 in favour of a 2900/2950 - Their not rediculus money these days and they hold there value pretty well.
