I was looking at a case on here and needed a PSU to go with it, it's going to be for a file server and want it to sit in the lounge so don't want it to be too loud. My current PSU measures about 56db when the rig is idle which is way too loud to have in the lounge.

I looked at these CIT PSU's and people are saying they are quieter than the stock PSU's but wondered is anyone could tell me how much difference they make with sound levels?

It's just a P4 2.00ghz with 4GB RAM, onboard sound/gfx running Ubuntu Server. Boot drive is an 80GB IDE with 2 500GB external drives.

Avoid CIT at all costs, likely to blow up or catch fire.

Go for a quailty psu like Corsair, XFX as already mentioned.

These PSU's cost more than what that PC is worth.
Just use the CIT PSU. It won't blow it up...
I have a 10 year old EZ-Cool in my comparably old PC, and it is still fine.
