Hey guys. We've got a single citrix server here which is serving our overseas offices for a few applications - Outlook for Exchange mail and a Financial Package. We use a 3rd application piece of software called Print-IT to allow mapping of local printers in users' citrix sessions, this requires both a piece of software and a small bit of client software on the user end. Also, our offices all connect to citrix through our external facing web front end.

Anyway, I've got a slight problem, occasionally the client that has just logged on doesn't map their own printers in the session, however they can see every other person's mapped printers that are logged on and working.

As a seemingly seperate issue, I've got a regular occurence where a client logs into citrix, their printers map fine, they leave their session open and idle where we have a 1 hour log out timer, they get logged out, they log back in and now their printers are no longer mapped...

Any advice/ideas? Any suggestions for a better printing solution? Frankly I'm at my wits end with this software and have had zero support from the vendor.

Cheers guys!

I dont know quite what this solution is doing for you - but you don't need a third party. Citrix supports local print mapping as standard and you can use the universal driver (set in policy) so any local printer will work.

Otherwise, thinprint works well in RDP environments and gives very effective compression/driver free printing
