Citrix login box off screen

This is the most annoying error to try and fix permenantly. When some of our users login to Citrix on their Wyse terminals the login box if off the screen to the upper left. This means they cannot login, or can using tab but then half the screen is missing anyway.

I think it is the resultion being set too high for the screens somewhere but don't really know. The general solution we use is to pull the power to the Wyse box a few times or click cancel and try logging in again.

Another one that sorted it when i was testing this was to go into the Wyse control panel and set the refresh rate to 60hz if on 75 already or 75 if it was on 60hz

I have tried trauling the net for everything related but it has returned nothing. It could be a combination of Wyse settings, monitor settings or Citrix settings. Only a select number of users are having the problem, maybe 5 out of 40. Sometimes they have to power off the Wyse and try connecting 4 times before it actually works, which is obviously very annoying and time consuming

Thanks

edit - I have just searched again and this is exactly what i am getting -

'the windows login screen for them to enter their username and password was appearing almost completely off the top left hand side of the screen'

I'll see if all the servers have the same patches on

I worked in my school's IT Department, and we run a (poor) Citrix Network, with 8 servers in the farm.

We had to completely repatch (almost from scratch) Our Citrix servers, we were told that it was something to do with a bad install (or something similar).

Otherwise, the Hertz rate and the screen resolutions can be locked down via the citrix servers - wouldn't do this if you have multiple resolutions for different sized screens on site though - it's a pain!

Was is just the login box off screen problem you were having that made you repatch all the servers?

We have a mixture of wyse and normal desktops, some people have laptops and some use 800 x 600 who have crap eyes. Not practical im afraid to set to 60hz, 1024 x 768 full screen, would be easier though!

cheers

The main reason was the screen issue - the second reason was something to do with one of the main Citrix patches failed anyway, and that is what we were told by Citrix to do.

HI,

I run a similar environment (WYSE S10's) but have never come across the problem. What is the Citrix version you are running, have you applied the latest Rollup Pack and what firmware on the WYSE boxes do you have? Also do you lock down the WYSE terminals to stop users fiddling with them?

We had some issues that we thought were Citrix related but turned out to be problems with the WYSE boxes, we reflashed the terminals with the latest firmware and the problems disappeared.

I would start by looking if it affects particular servers i.e what server where they trying to logon to when it happened, as if they manage to logon after powering off or clicking cancel they might be hitting another server (if you have them load balanced), then look at the WYSE Terminals. Have a look at Freewysemonkeys for WYSE Terminal help, really good site if you don't have support from WYSE.

As far as I am aware the wyse boxes are not locked down. Users simply connect to Citrix and citrix is locked down (within reason) Users can still get to the control panel from the main screen before logging in to citrix.

It doesnt affect particular servers. One user this morning had to pull the power 4 times, there have been around 10 other users working on that same server today with no problems

Servers are load balanced, i suppose it could be kicking people off the latest server we have installed. Hardly anyone gets logged into this one, but people still log in to it without problems

Cheers for the help
