Hi all, just wondering if there is an easy way to see a log of who has accessed our Citrix platform, who accessed it (username), what dates/times it was accessed and from what machine/IP it was accessed from.

Just trying to get some usage data together and not sure how to gather this info from our server?

Having used Citrix for a while, I don't think there is a single source for what you are asking. There might be something in the IIS logs from the WI but that probably won't tell you a lot.

Citrix doesn't log the kind of info you are asking for, unless you increase certain logging parameters, and even then the log gets quite large and unusable.

Will that give me my desired outcome of being able to see which Citrix users logged in through our web portal, at what time and also the host name?

No, it has no relevance to this post. I don't know why he posted that.

Citrix Access Essentials is a very cut down version of XenApp giving you only the essential (See where this is going?) tools needed to virtualise applications.

I don't think there are any built in reporting tools in Access Essentials, you would need to use EdgeSight for that.

In earlier version of XenApp there was a Resource Manager component which would record the metrics you wanted and you could report on them but this was removed in PS4.5 and above and replaced with EdgeSight.

Thanks ubern00b, appreciate you're response.

I really am a bit of a n00b when it comes to Citrix, this system was half heartedly installed by the previous IT Admin (who didnt really know much about Citrix).

Are there any ways to upgrade our Citrix environment etc to a fully fledged version with all the trimmings?

I think that is the method we use. We have a log file that logs the time the user logs in and their login username. Unless there is something else that is creating the log file that i am not aware of. I only assume it is this method as I did not set the logging up. Citrix uses terminal services so if you can log the terminal services log in events to a log file then that will log all the citrix log ins. From what i am aware I do not think citrix has that facility, you have to use the windows terminal services "log" login facility.
