Anyone on here own one of these? Looking at a new car now that I'm finally earning some half decent money. Seen one local to me at a dealers, looks quite nice but I'm not too sure on what the build quality is like, and don't know how practical they are to live with. I'm not really needing a big car as I very rarely have more than 1 passenger with me, but the boot space and rear seats on this thing is tiny . 1.6 engine with 125bhp so should be quite nippy. AC, Electrics, CD, digital dash, alarm and all that good stuff. Currently driving a 1.0 base model Corsa bought as a cheap run around, ended up lasting me 3 years, so any modern car is going to be big step up for me.

2006 with 25k on the clock. They are looking for £5k for it. Been offered around 1k trade in for my current car at other garages so should be offered similar. Reckon its worth it?

Weeny crap engine, standard French tin can build quality, about as much road feel as driving a pillow..... the list goes on.

What would possess anyone to spend 5k on something like that is beyond me when you can buy so much more for the money. What are you going to be using the car for primarily?

Even a die hard pug/cit fan like myself cant deny the c2 isn't a great car, and for 5 grand which will buy you a 182 or an immaculate 172 which wipe the floor with the c2.

@ Mr Gimp

Work and back during the week, bit of fun at the weekend. Do about 160-200 miles a week, 50/50 motorway and city driving.

More power than the Fiesta 1.6, 4 star NCAP rating and well rated by motoring reviewers for its handling.

I have actually driven one, and they are great little fun cars.

Agreed the 182 is a better drive, but will ask more of you for insurance.

See I'm not a great fan of Clios. I think the 182/172's look pretty boring and too standard for my liking. Not denying that performance wise they will wipe the floor with the C2, my friend at work has a 172 and it's very quick. Also the C2 is only a group 8 insurance, and a 172 is group 16, a bit too high for me.

They are about as good as it gets at that insurance grouping. It isn't going to set the world on fire with its performance, it has reasonable handling, a nice cabin, very broad spread of torque on the engine making it easy to drive.

If you damage it, it's cheap to repair and I think it looks kinda cool, but it is a marmite looking car.

Ah fair enough, I presumed these would have a similar insurance group to the old Saxo VTS (14) or the Xsara VTS (16)

But then having been driving for 3 years presumably accident free then I wouldn't think any would be too expensive to insure considering you are dropping £5k on the car. I insured a Saxo VTS at 19 no problem.

It sounds like you want something that looks fast instead of actually being a bit rapid. How about the current shape Celica? Or MR-S?
