Hi all

I've had a couple of lights pop up on my 2016 Citroen C4 cactus Blue HDI... I've been told it's just telling me I need to top up my AdBlue, However searching online it's saying it's a very costly job to do with a pump and sensor for the emissions.

Could anybody on here possibly give me hope it's just a top up needed, Most garages around me are madly booked up

Thank you

Easier (and probably cheaper) to take it to a tuner and have them disable the adblue check on the ECU. Then you don't have to bother with it except for adding a bit for the MOT.

A French diesel with emissions problems, surely not.
They suffer from god only knows how many faults with pumps and sensors which are not cheap!
I’ve sent plenty of people to a local garage who maps it out, and as for it failing the MOT without it, it’s doubtful.
I MOT’d a mates DS3 who I had it mapped out last year and it passed the emissions yesterday no problem.
But yes, at least try topping it up first before worrying.

Yep, they won't be able to tell if it has been disabled. Lots of mods which aren't really road legal slip through because it would take a full investigation/diagnostic to tell it's been altered.

Unless there is a warning light on the dash, no one except Greta cares.

If you did ignore/wire-out the light , wouldn't you end up giving the catalyst more work and a premature death .. MOT failure ...

Except for the cost of passing the MOT when it fails for emissions.

Recently had a similar light on my 2015 DS4. For me, it was just a case of topping up the AdBlue.

From reading... I believe I have a 17L AdBlue tank, and in my case, the light appears when the tank has less than around 2L remaining. I also get a message on the digital dash to say I have a certain amount of miles remaining before starting is impossible.

Halfords had a 2 for 1 on 5L bags, so topped up. Nozzle located under the boot lining.

I don't think there should be a delay in the message going away, as I assume it would just use a float sensor to measure current level. It was instant for me after topping up. However, if you ever completely run dry of Adblue, it is recommended to run in key position 1 after top up for a few minutes before trying to crank.

Check the section in your manual in case it has anything similar.

Says 17L should last around 12.5k miles.

It likely won't fail and you can still put adblue in for the test. It just won't warn about it or stop the car from starting when it runs out :)

It stops it being a requirement and one less thing to screw up.
