Xantia owners, could anybody give me a link or a list of what fuse does what for this car please?

I'm trying to fit a CD tuner to my girlfriends 1997 Xantia TD, I've removed the standard fit radio, but, seem to have no power feed.

I've found a fusebox under the dash on the drivers side, as the cars got no manual, I'm wondering if I'm missing any further fuse boxes on the car as so far, I've found no blown fuses, but, don't either know which fuse I shoud be checking in the first place.

Thanks. :)

There is a fusebox on the passenger side in the engine bay beside the engine block, under a plastic cover. It's sort of L shaped I think.

You shouldn't need to fit a direct power feed, you just need the correct lead for behind the dash, you can get it from Autoleads for about 30 quid and it lets you use the stereo controls on the wheel as well.

Standard plugs mate, so, in theory all I do (and have done) is un-plugged the old radio and slotted the new one in, the leads fit perfectly.

Thanks I'll go have a look under the bonnet (again! :o ) whilst CypherPunk, to whom I'm grateful, scans that page.

:)

Edit, just tried my old Alpine head unit instead of the JVC I'm trying to fit, thats dead also, so it must be a fuse (hopes! )

Yea but then you lose the remote on the wheel and the remote on the wheel on the Xantia is sooo cool - I wish most other cars used the same system.

Right I've scanned the pages, do you have an email address I could send them too?

Also is the clock is working? As the radio uses the same fuse as the clock and the remote locking.

Whilst I'd hate to lose that function in my BM (I use it all the time ) the GF isn't bothered (they did'nt work with the old unit anyway!) - can you remove them as there now redundant?

Just found the other Fusebox in the engine bay (also found the ECU & air filter! :o :D ) alas, no list of whats what, there all ok anyway.

No, the clock isn't now working, but, one of the plugs is now no longer used (three plugs on the O/E radio, 2 on the JVC / Alpine. ) The remote locking has never worked, but, I hav'nt checked the batteries on the fob, it could be them.

I should point out, the JVC unit initially worked, but stopped once I was proudly showing her I'd sone the job ! :o :o

No problem m8, glad to have been a help.

The exact same thing happened to me; apparently some cars came from the factory with the wrong fuse in position 25. It caused me no end of trouble as the one in my car blew just as I started a 3 hour motorway trip at night. It was possibly the most boring car journey ever
