Civ 4 noob advice

Ive had this game for about 2 years now with the two expansions, but i never played them. For some reason i feel like giving civ4 another go, should i jump straight onto the latest expansion (warlords) or just play civ4?
Im no stranger to civ games, i own civ 3 and played that a lot.
 
The latest expansion is Beyond the Sword, not Warlords. Defiantly go straight for that, it's much improved on the original.
 
Be prepared to loose a lot of time to the game?? There's another really good thread somewhere with a few really good takes on the best way to play.

Best thing to do is baz it on the easiest setting and follow the tutorial, get a win or at least to the modern era (on a normal or fast speed) then crank up the difficulty straight away, there's little point in getting used to anything below noble (I think its noble, which puts you vs the pc at equal levels), with the lower levels just to see what sort of aims you like to develop for.

Oh and pick a financial civ (teaches the best way to use cottages)
