id like to get a game tonight from steam to keep me entertained for awhile, which of those would you recommend guys? i know they are very differant games but i just want something i can get engrossed in
well i went for pirates! just because i want to get straight in and have some fun, ive always wanted to try civ 4 though but i played a version on my 360 not so long ago and found it rather confusing :S
Yeah im the biggest civ fan ever! (i have all of them...) and i found revolution (ps3/360) pretty confusing (then again i havnt sat down to it propperly yet...)
Civ4 with beyond the sword is probably the most addictive thing there (bar class A drugs), iv had civ4 since release nearly 3 years ago and have probably played it 5-10 hours a week minmum during that time (every week.... with occasions where its 5-10 hours a day...)
Pirates is really good though too! (bit easy till you get up to the top level when it suddenly gets really hard :s) Try taking over a few settlements (iv been trying to make the whole carribean dutch for a while...)
well my download completed on steam and ive been presented with a crash before the game even loads, double clicking on the icon in steam presents me with a "pirates has stopped working"
im running vista 32, its pretty much a fresh install this week, anyone expeirenced similar?
I installed Pirates from the dvd and it worked fine on Vista 64. Id have thought the Steam version would have been more up to date and that my copy would have had problems
IVe got civ 4, got it cheap, but couldnt get into it, played an older one and liked my AoE and RoN but just couldnt get into this, i ll put it on my new comp though as my laptop may have hindered my gaming experience seems a lot of people rate it highly! think it might have been the whole turn based thing?

i fixed my problem in the end, for anyone who has a similar problem in the future i downloaded 2 .dll files, msvcr71 and msvcp71 and placed them in the root folder, one of the things i love about the internet is how easy it can be to find solutions.
I have both, and Civ IV is definitely the superior game. Pirates is fun for a while, but becomes very "samey", whereas Civ can keep you entertained for years!
