When i 1st downloaded civ 5 off of steam, it ran like a dream, everything maxed out on dx10 4xmsaa.. but now when i start or load a game, it runs fine for a bit then the fps drops considerably. This never used to happen!!??

I also now cant set any aa. When i apply any aa in the games options, the screen blacks out for 10 seconds or so and then returns to none. (i can still see the games mouse cursor when it blacks out)

Im guessing the 2 problems are linked

This started happening before the lastest patct and nvidia driver. I have tried reinstalling the driver (also with driversweeper in safemode after the uninstall restart)

I noticed this started happning when i setup my Panasonic TV with my PC, since then i have DC'd it and reinstalled drivers etc

Now downloading the game again thru steam to see if this fixes it

Anyone got any ideas? As i love this game

still doing it after downloading it again. PLEEAASSEE i need some help desperately, my life isnt complete without this running, as soon as i have finnished with fallout, i wont have any game to play :(

Clean out your temp files?

Is your HDD grinding away, or an anti-virus program running in the background?

And shock horror (for those that don't think it's a problem)... has Steam updated your AMD graphics drivers for you?

Alternatively.. is your PC still overclocked, or perhaps even running on speed step, so isn't running at full speed?

Is your PCI-E Express multiplier at 1x rather than 16x (use GPU-Z to determine).

Just some of the many things I can think of to check.

Or perhaps.. you just have too much going on now you've played it a while?

fixed it.... When i went to apply anti aliasing and it blacked out.. I pressed enter to accept it, restarted the game and its ran fine ever since.
