I bought this game, and will not install without steam.

Then, dings a lot and fails , what a joke a great game sold itself.

why? whatever to buy the game. install it . play it.

I can't get this to run. Because it's on steam.

What is the problem with steam ? Why can't you run the game from steam ?
 
For One Reason Piracy why should a company use other even more pain in the a** DRM when they can just use steam's yes i know it wont stop it.
Also helps with muilt-player side with all the friend stuff on steam
 
To be fair, apparently the OP owns an i7 965 extreme, which only people who have no common sense, far too much money, serious epeen issues or all of the above would pay for.

We can't expect someone like that to understand how steam works.
 
allow me to translate: consumer pre-orders physical copy of media, i.e. Civ5. as most pre-order retail copies do it arrives the day before release. said consumer then attempts to install and play the game, only for steam to deny aforementioned installation as game is "not available in your region".

this is the first time I've pre-ordered something and not been able to play it, despite having the physical copy of the game in my hand, and the reason I couldn't play it is because it was locked on steam.

I would assume that he should (and me when i get home) be able to play today with no problems.

Its not the first time I've pre-ordered something and not been able to play it despite having the physical copy of the game in my hand. Happens almost every time I get an MMO, I end up with the game in my hand but cant play because launch day hasnt come around :)

I see what he means tho. It is a bit stupid for games to have a lock in place that makes it unplayable before a certain date. I mean if you have a physical copy of a game you should be able to play it when you get home and install it. But he cant. Seems daft indeed.

Back before the net was good for downloading games or activating, you wouldn't have had this problem. Seems company's are just too controlling these days what with all the activation and locked till a certain date crap. They blame it all on pirates but well you go into the biz knowing that it will happen so don't cry if it gets pirated. Should be prowd lol that everyone wants to play the game u made, not be sore loosers that its been copied for free so you lose ur monies. :p
