Civ 5 Retail

Hi Guys,

Quick question - if I buy a retail copy of Civ V, can I just add the key into my Steam account, or do I have to use it standalone? I know it uses Steam, but as far as I know Mafia II (2K's last game) was similarly steam-integrated, but isn't listed as a retail-key-compatible game. I don't want to have to mess around with DVDs

If its steamworks then yes you can.

I think with Mafia II, they've just not updated the web page yet.

if it follows the example of just cause 2 it will be fine, however I still need the dvd to play (just cause 2 i mean).

It's Steamworks, so once the CD key is registered with your account then you can either install it via DVD or download it as normal. Note that you wont be able to pre-load it, if you get that option with this game, as you would have to wait for your CD key to arrive in the post, ie on release day or later.
