Anyone up for a few games vs ai and me vs you? I'm an MP noob and having trouble with ''prince'' AI in civ4, need to practise a bit, I know about specializing city's etc... but can't seem to find the right balance between stuff and a good attack strategy.

If you fancy a 1vs1 game vs an mp noob, add me on msn or xfire please :) .

Oh i've played mp btw, but not against people, but wit h1 person vs ai, game speed i prefer fast, so normall-quick turns....

CivFanatics is the best fan site around, big forums, excellent range of guides and so on. Never played online myself either, noble/prince level too so I might give you a shout over the weekend :).

Might play with u on mp again but i wont if u dont go till the end as you have a habit of stopping when it gets too easy when the ai is almost dead.

Errr we always already had victory, you just wanted to play on always after victory, wich I didn't like skeet...

The game is just like that with domination victory's, if you get xx% of land& pop u just win, regardless if ai is still alive....

I wanted to wipe away the enemy empire. I want to hunt them all down and kill em all. That was the best bit for me. No survivers. :D

Besides few times u never even played more than half of a game. Last game we didnt get far till you got bored.

Because i dont like waiting for turns, and fancy a game with a quicker time limit...

I've heard in mp lobby a good game lasts 3-4 hours, not 20 ish like our games...

Lol i had to wait for u a lot the last game or two we had on civ.

Not what i can renember, besides, who often said the ''quick'' time limit per turn was too fast and requested a restart when we tried that?

While on the subject of civ4-warlords already, I've not played it for a long time so can't renember stuff, is there a replay mode on it and if so, where can I download replays, want to study some ''experts strategy's''.
Used to do this for age of empires 2 to get better, download replays/recorded games and watch em...

Thanks for the links andrewp, will also look forward to a game with you if you want :) , been on civ fanatics a few months ago and also read guides there, but that's when i improved to noble/prince ish lvls, b4 that i was playing on ''warlord lvl'' , now I want to at least be able to finally defeat a prince or even a human player, hence i think ill need practise against real people...

Anyhow ill re-read it all now for when i play my next game, and check out the guides in the thread you linked to. ;)

Ah nice pics every few turns, will do for now, reading the ''ALC Game 15: Ottoman/Mehmed II '' :)

Hey, you should have said earlier! I'll add you later.. Could I not persuade an epic game? ;)

I've been playing for years, I too am stuck on Prince strugling against the AI. I play massive map, epic games with Warlords and Civgold map but will play without. Normally no Space Race as the AI on prince runs to the hills with that, and sometimes no Tech trading. Just to make sure everyone is on a level pegging (AI) and not all bullying me! My games average between 10 (haha pawned) and 18 hours (long struggle, depending)

Prince level is when they start to get quite a bit extra production, so planning your strategy early is good. You need the benefit from resources in your capitial from word go really so I tend to regenerate until I'm happy enough. Have you played it more with the religous angle? If you go a for a religious game, go for Buddism first. I've seen games where I, inadvertantly while progressing (quickly with wonders), founded all but one. Building whatever temple associated to the religion in the Holy City massively boosts its culture and your economy if you have enough related buildings.

Watch what you spend your hammers on, try to think if that building or wonder would benefit you compaired to building melee units and either conquering, or pillaging. :) Save trees for chopping wonders down the line..

Try for Oracle for sure anyway, I like the Great Wall and Stonehenge for early stress free expantion.

i wish there were replays for civ, or a video tutorial i could follow :P

Well you do get that crud map at the end showing border expansion, great people, wars. But tbh it hasn't really been looked at since Civ 1.

Ill add you all tomoz or tonite on msn, 1 person is ready to play next week
(neil), skeet and me prolly are ready to play anytime, and need to add 1 more of you to msn to ask still ( andrewp or biohazard, or both), I personally had a no locked teams at all game in mind, i mean i always hated in games with skeet, fighting over land&resources etc..., if no locked teams, i can just declare war if needed, yes i know I'm evil :D .

If some of you insist on 2vs2, then only way to add a 5th player is to let him be on no team, but personally i'd prefer no teamsat all so we can add as many people as wanted...

Bio, I think you're a bit higher lvl as me, because as i said: I'm stuck at prince/noble, noble is usually a victory of half the games for me, and prince i only won once: on a 2 player map, but never on a full 8p map...
Personally I prefer default rules and quick game, but I'm ok with other speeds too...

I wouldn't say that far ahead. On nobble I would be worried if I didn't win now. Prince, either a long drawn out war that I myself may be happy with. Or at least keeping up with the AI.

I play the max civs allowed, let them build cities for you!

I'll play anything either.

My main rig is keyboardless at the moment, but I need a new one tomorrow for weekend gaming so I'll add you to msn even for a normal speed game...

(I have never played a human opponent lol n00b!)
