Hey guys, this post is pretty much pure theory, won't be done, won't be thought of being done etc.. due to costs that would be more than silly for this!

Basically i have a 54 plate Civic 1.6 Sport, picked a friend of my gf's brothers up the other week who started chirping "Is it a Type-R??" over and over, to which i sadly had to say no! Being the 15 year old little squirt he kept saying "You shoudl get a Type-R or drop a Type-R engine in here!" to which I said if I was to do either, once finance is settled i'd do the first, naturally, but it did get me thinking, just on a pure speculative note, with mine being the 1.6 5 speed, and the Type-R a 2.0 6 speed, what actual modifications would need doing aside from the obvious engine/gearbox swap? Not even sure it'd be a straight fitting swap, again, this is PURE speculation as the little git just made me wonder what you could do with a none Type-R and a rear ended written off Type-R :)

Again, just speculation, please no "omg, don't be stupid doing that" Just some mechanical theory is all!

:)

suspension, brakes, loom, ECU.

ask the twerp what he drives, point out his bike doesnt have a 1.6 engine let alone a 2.0 and then be done with it.

Converting a 1.6 to a 'type R' is silly. You'd get raped on insurance if it was ever done. Much cheaper to sell it and buy a proper type r

Depends on the layout really, you might need to swap the subframe/steering rack as well as the suspension. Then there's the different gearbox and how the speedo drive operates, the throttle, whether its cable operated or a sensor, lots of things really.

Yep, thought as much, just wanted to get another opinion to show him that its not drop & play as he thinks!

And yep, i know its very silly indeed, some people never seem to listen, but its entertaining to see the sheer amount!

Well I don't know what you mean by "old 54 plate civic"...but you say it's a 92-95..which the B-series drop straight into (b16a/b, b18b/c, b20a/z)

Sorry, don't recall even saying Old 54 plate civic hehe :) I mentioned old Ek9, i know, but my Civic is a 2004 Ep2/3?

But ok, Bseries is 92-95 and they are straight drops, i see :)

I edited:p

EP1 - 1.4 d-series 88bhp
EP2 - 1.6 d-series 108bhp (yours)
EP3 - 2.0 k-series 197bhp

EK9 - 1.6 b-series 185bhp

Hope that makes sense!

Scarily enough, it does, thanks to the other Tim who also drives a Civic, and, iirc wants an NSX someday too! :D

And stop rubbing my 108bhp! in my face!! its meaty! :D

:D

Well, next time i see him i'll give him a whack and tell him it'll cost a bomb, and just about everything (lol) will need moving along then as far as i can tell from whats been said, to drop a 2.0 k series into the Sport.

You just can't get modern Civic sleepers can ya! :D

Having a poke around www.civic-ep2.co.uk now, didn't realise it existed until today, finding out i'm in an EP2 (Thought it was just Ep3 in breadvans!) How silly I feel!

Nice to stumble upon it though, for a few slight things i could do with this car, hate getting expensive ideas from there already!
