Just tell him to get a facelift (2004 onwards), so any problems will be fixed under warranty.
My warranty runs out in may so its booked in this wednesday for:
-Passenger side window rattle
-Drivers side air vent rattle
-Drivers side pillar rattle
Other than interior rattles there isn't much that goes wrong with them. Steering rack failures on facelifts are rare.

Annoying as hell when I used to smoke but quit now
As already said, the only main issue is the steering rack.
There can also be issues with 2nd gear crunching
I found the Honda dealers would do anything to wriggle out of warrany work. It's for that reason I doubt I'll buy another, cos it was real hard work getting them to admit that there were any faults. I even ended up taking a 12 page thread from the Honda forum with dozens of people that had the same issue in order to get them to admit that there was a fault.
