At the moment I'm trying to decide whether to keep hold of my FN2 Civic Type R. Its a great car, but I can't help but fancy a change.

Was looking at a BMW 130i, but was put off due to it being an LCI model.

Only other thing that I can find that looks good is a 55 plate Golf GTi with DSG, BBS CH wheels and full leather, but worried about dropping from an 07 plate back a couple of years.

Any opinions?

As many others will tell you, a plate means nothing. Buy based on the condition of the vehicle. Just because it has an 07 on the plastic instead of 08 doesn't mean things are going to randomly explode on you. Having no service history and generally looking shabby are far more likely criteria leading to an expensive motor.
