I am addicted to the demo and now contemplating buying the full version. Not purchased off steam before. Any draw backs as opposed to purchasing a retail copy? Anybody out there with any tips or what not would be appreciated! ;)

Steam is fine, you will also be able to view the manual online aswell with steam

Once you buy your first game from steam you will buy loads :)

Thanks for the replies. Try the demo Chris. I am an old Age of Empires/Empire Earth man and this took some getting used to, but now I'm addicted and the demo cuts out once you're really getting into it, which is a right pain in the... but I spose thats what its for really, so good job on whoever made the demo, I just hope the game is as addictive in full.

If i'm not mistaken - the game uses steamworks so even if you buy it via steam or at retail - it will still use steam to play it.

This means you may as well get whichever is easier and cheaper to get your hands on. Retail will usually be cheaper and means you don't need to download much, while buying it off steam means you can play it as soon as it is downloaded - so if you have fast internet then it could be tonight.

Steam is great. I'm so fond of it that I am happy to pay a couple of quid more than retail for the convenience that Steam offers.

Civ 5 is good, too.

It is available retail for £15.00. If its ok to give the url for a computer game store give me a nod?

my Civ5 was a retail copy and works fine with steam. from what i read multiplayer is a bit broken atm so you may not be able to play online (to answer the question above). it is also very different from earlier Civs and reception has been mixed. personally, i think it's a touch slow but there are loads of mods and stuff to download (through the browser in game) which change it so you'll get plenty of mileage out of it one way or another. i have over 115 hours on it :oO
