I've recently installed a new HDD and put a fresh copy of XP (SP3) on, only trouble is it can't seem to automatically install my sound card and when I try using the drivers .exe file (that I've used before), it comes up with the error:

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this Setup program. Setup will exit."

For the record it's a Creative Labs Audigy 2 sound card, about 3-4 or so years old.

I'm tempted to buy a new Creative Labs sound card for £15, doesn't have to be that great and just install it, and hope XP will recognise and install the new one correctly, is this likely to work?

No don't think so? There's a slight chance I may have been running a different version but I can't verify.

I don't mind shelling out 15 quid for a new sound card, but will it work? Can I have two connected, one to mother board (the one that isn't being recognised) and a new one connected to PCI?
