I can get the Corsair XMS3 RAM with the following CL timings at the following prices, which one do I get:

CL7 - 50
CL8 - 39
CL9 - 33

Any help, if the price difference is worth it for potentially better OC ability...

CL for £33 - this article gives you an idea of the real-world performance between CL7 and CL9 1600MHz Dual channel DDR3 in games and applications (with the sandy bridge platform at least). Bear in mind that in games the difference won't even be this much since the games are set up with relativel low resolutions and in-game settings - so the graphics card performance doesn't become the performance bottleneck - which it normally is.

As for OC ability - memory really doesn't matter that much these days. Both Intel and AMD overclocking is done with the CPU multiplier - so memory doesn't get affected by an overclock (the FSB/BCLK isn't increased).

Thanks, doesn't seem to make massive real world differences, but they're more obvious than I thought they would be... Will probably end up going with the CL7 and just get another two the same in a year or so's time when 8GB is needed...More likely to have some future proofing
