Clamping the homeless?

Disgusting, most of them dont want to be homeless, how would this help them?

Talk about kicking someone when they're down.

They are generally all dirty, smelly and drunk up on alchol. Wallowing in their on filth, in street doorways and shouting abuse at passers by.

Why dont you just close your eyes and pretend they dont exist? or maybe we could all chip in and arrange some nice discreet death squads to round up these subhumans and remove the problem?

I sincerly hope you never find yourself in this situation, not that its happened to me either. Yeah they just love it these homeless type dont they, what a great life they lead...life of riley.

I'm with Morlan on this one all the way.

I really don't think this will help. I feel for them, I really do. I am just reporting what is being done in my home town

Why can they gather a few of them together, put them in a house/building so they can get jobs then pay rent and bills as anyone else would.

I annoys me a fair bit when i see them on the way home from work then in the morning when i go to work they are smashed!

No-one should be homeless in UK. Real homeless people are in poor parts of china and other countries

Okay, as someone who has actually been homeless, I think I may be able to contribute something useful to what I presume is a joke thread...

As has been stated, the vast majority of homeless people are actually quite happy as they are. A large amount of them are pickled beyond help due to their addictions. They are unlikely to ever be in a position to get a job, even the most menial. Most won't want to, as it involves effort, and not being wasted out of your skull.

Some people get there through no fault of their own (As in my case, and no, I'm not about to go into details, thanks), and do want help.

It is unsightly to see people comatose in shop doorways, but, in general, the ones you see are the ones who don't give a **** about what you think. The one's that want help? You won't see them unless desperation forces them to be in a public place. Why? Embaressment(sp?)... they knew exactly what they though of the Homeless until they became one.

Unless you have been there, stop judging... m'kay?

I understand, in my home town, there is quite a problem with homeless people. They are generally all dirty, smelly and drunk up on alchol. Wallowing in their on filth, in street doorways and shouting abuse at passers by.

The clamps will be bolted on to any homeless person found motionless or asleep after 9pm at night. This is the time when they start accumulating in doors ways. The clamps ensure that any drunk causing a blockage are forced to stay put when they wake up. They have proberly been sick too. They are then to be prosicuted and punished.

I think its outrageuos this could be allowed in these days today.

I think you've been watching far too much Brass eye/Day to day/ Chris morris! :D

Sounds good to me! they choose to be that way!!! all of them are druggies and thats where they belong! outside on the street's.
My only concern is somebody going back to where they got abused and giving him some of his own medicine and then ,them getting in trouble and getting a fine.

All in All a win for the council/goverment! suprise suprise.

Why not just prosecute them when they’re first found, I don’t see the need for a “clamp”. What if they need the toilet, what if they need serious medical attention, what if someone attacks them? It’s one of the most stupid ideas I’ve come across, not to mention completely against every form of human right legislation known to man. It’s BS and without a link from a reputable source I can’t believe anyone would think otherwise.

Q4T :D

EDIT: He may have misunderstood a councillor saying they are going to clamp down on homeless people :p :D

Actually being "homeless" generally isn't the greatest problem that homeless people have though... drug (mainly alcohol) dependency and mental issues are common.

A documentary a while ago that looked who they were/why they were on the streets found a fair proportion were ex-soldiers who obviously had some sort of conflict trauma but were not cared for by the services at the time. Just like the recent news from the new conflicts.

what we should have is charity run hotels. with bouncers and sniffer dogs on the door. Very strict rules, but huge help in helping them get a job, counselling if needed, finance lessons and getting them back on there feet. I much rather see this, than money being sent to Africa.

this already exists, in quantities. There are hostels and programs a-plenty because the government tend to just chuck money at it.

The people they are aimed at generally just dont care/cant be bothered.

...and a warm handshake from Michael Heseltine to the children he is about to release into the woods and shoot.

I refer you to post 46, ****wit.

You think, even for a second, that I chose Homelessness?

Do us all a favour, take up russian roulette as a hobby and clean up the gene pool. You must be intentionally stupid, as no-one is that gifted naturally... oh, wait.... this is OCUK... My Bad.

No Personal Attacks! - K

To back up your argument care to explain why you were homeless?

generalised ignorance

Granted, a lot of homeless are quite deserving of their fate, but as an example, I would hardly think mental illness would class as a choice, would you? A fair amount of homeless people suffer from mental illnesses of some kind.

As someone already pointed out, you tend to get quite a lot of ex-servicemen who have seen combat and are suffering from post-traumatic stress.

Joking aside (if you were joking it was incredibly insensitive) take some time to learn facts before shooting your ill-informed mouth off, thank you.

Joking is one thing, personal attacks on someone who has gone through something that was obviously traumatic is another.

From what I've seen though is there very poor attempts. with very little structure or merit.. Not much more than a place to sleep for a few weeks.
There must be loads of homeless out there, which want help.
