For those of you using your Mac in clam-shell mode.. Do you ever shut down? or always just sleep your mac?

Just got myself a vertical stand, but if I shut my Macbook down I have to take it out of the stand to power it back on.. just wondering what others do.

A neat trick is to get a smart plug. You can shut the unit down, and power off the smart-plug. Power up the smart-plug and your laptop boots. Lazier option is just unplug the charge for a few seconds and plug it back in. My i9 2019 unit would take about 5 seconds disconnected before I could plug it in again and have it power up.

My whole desk was run this way for a while. 'Morning routine' turns on my work desk, coffee machine and a few other things.

Before I decided I needed it as a second screen even with my Ultrawide I just pulled power and plugged it back in.

Now it lives on a stand for all my email, slack and teams nonsense. Need all the screen I can get as a web dev.
