Ok, i last did clan based gaming back on ut2k4..

Im currently waiting to get paid so i can build a new pc to get back into it all again with ut3, cs, cod mw2 , etc etc.

Back then it was all about clanbase and jolt for the ladders cups etc..

I went on clanbase and now days it seems very behind the times, my question is what do people use now and how do i go about getting involved within a clan.

Also are Irc/quakenet and ventrillo still tools of choice.

Must have missed this post, to answer your question yes games are still very much clan based when it comes to competitive players. I can only speak from the experience of the games i have played in clans over the last year. CSS the majority used the cal league or enemmy down to start with. As for the recruitment its best to find the server really, play on it for a couple of weeks become a known face and then apply :)

I currently play MW2 with a clan in "EuroDomination" League, to say how anti-MW2 i was upon release and how pants iwnet is, it's really good, CoDLeague, EnemyDown and as you have said, ClanBase are all worth having a look at depending what game and rulesets suit how you want to play, finding the right clan, that could be whole different ball game...

some good advice rolling in now :). Yea finding a decent clan always was a task on its own.

Back in the day i ran a clan called ICE. Eventually it was great and we had a great team of players and got on really well. Also the vent server we had was 100% perfect.

lol clan games on local player servers >.<
^^ indeed. Max Fail

Just been reading some of the rules on the euro domination site for MW2,

Note: The host is not allowed to be substituted/leave at anytime during the match. If the host leaves while the match is still being played, this may result in the match being forfeited.

Just seem like there are too many variables for fail.
How can you get a really reliable host ? Mmm.. Dedicated server anyone

if its css you wanna get competitve in dont bother with clanbase as tbh its **** xD

put a recruitment onto enemy down or the soon to be league eurokrieg.

be truthful about yourself though because if you say yeh well im a mid skilled player and can awp and rifle at a good standar, they trial you and you end up being low and bad at awping and rifling then it aint a good way to start.

if your just starting out at css, i would reccomend finding a decent deathmatch that you like and learning how the mian weapons work (deagle, awp, ak, m4) find whether you are more confortable with rifle or awp. you could then go to normal public servers (detest them myself).

things to steer clear of:

modded servers, things like warcraft mod or anything is horrendous.
the odd hide and seek or mini game server can be fun though.

dont try to copy other peoples settings. no matter how "pro" a player is he didnt get there by copying settings from other players. Find a sensitivity, crosshairscale etc etc that suites YOU. i would reccomend using your monitors native res though a lot of people have the impreession low res's are the way to go but there is no reason to not go native.

so yeh choose settings you are comfortable with and DONT change them unless needed.

try to work on being passive and also aggressive, and learn in which situations you need to be passive / aggresive. (this is picked up in mixes mainly)

for example if the bombs down you cant wait around for people to come to you you have to push forward and try to get that defuse.

DONT be a rager. nobody likes them, if you find yourself getting angry you will play worse ending up in you playing worse. if you find your self getting angry and you not being able to hit anyone, have a break watch some TV or play a different game for a while. come back and i garuntee you will do better.

being angry can also make your team angry. making the teamplay worse. everyone gets mad ofc but just keep it chilled

also dont flame people, on pubs or in matches just dont it gets old and makes you look a fool. even if they have awful reg, 400 ping and are flaming you be the better person and keep chilled. they will only look a ****.

always have optimal net settings.

rate: 25-50k (i use 50k as its best for ME)
cl_cmdrate : 100
cl_updaterate: 100

another thing i find helpful is watch demos of top players playing, see what they do in certain situations and how they work as a team. it also helps by watching the position that YOU usually play . find out ho they hold it and when to be aggressive or passive.

youll be playing in a team in no time then :D

/sorry if that bored anyone

really appreciate them tips, i am pretty noob to css. Just need to build my new machine now!

thats fine mate add me to steam if you want:
Dubb123

also another thing to remember is keep at it, css is nothing like other FPS's in the way you needto control guns etc. you will not be good at it straight away, stick at it though.

How can you play MW2 without perks?

It's ok, I can see that you can turn them on and off in the settings for private matches.

Ill be honest but im not a fan of percs..

always seems silly to reward player that are doing well with things to make them do better..

Its much better ut style where if a players good he will time all major picups to dominate the match. much more skilled

ill add you once ive built my new system dub :) thanks
