and why isnt it allowed as i cant find mention of it in the FAQ and wanted to post about my own supcom clan eventually, wanting to make sure i dont break a rule when i do...
 
Just saves everyone in a clan starting threads like 'we are recruiting' etc. I dont think they have a problem with mentioning it in a thread, but on purposely starting one about your clan will probably be locked.

Thats how ive always thought of it anyways.

Pretty much it.

Basically, you're promoting your own club/clan/site or server in a way, etc. It should be fine to post in reply to threads like "I'm looking for a good clan" or "Where should I play x game?" etc, just starting specific threads to big up / advertise your own clan / site isn't allowed.
