Point i'm trying to get across but failing to do so because I have such rubbish explanatory skills issss:

When you're banned, and if you carry on playing games on that banned xbox + gamer card and get achievements etc. still then try putting that into a legit one to update the gamer score, it wouldn't work because it'll come up as "corrupt" so recovering the gamer card is the only way.

Ah I see, yes you would be correct in saying that. You can recover the profile, but anything that should be "new", i.e. achievements will be lost.
