Hello, I am looking to return to occasional gaming and having looked at the GPU options for my AMD 5700G PC, especially the RTX 4060, due to my PSU limit, which is 310 watts, Nvidia recommended a minimum of 300 for their RTX 4060 which is impressive but it costs around £300.

If I were to find any more powerful than the RTX 4060, I would be looking at an expensive upgrade, replacing the PSU, etc. That made me think about buying the console. PC Gaming, especially with the GPUs, seems very expensive, and to better the consoles, it would cost a lot more, which is probably overkill for my needs anyway.

I'm more interested in arcade driving games, similar to Sega Rally and Need for Speed classics that came out for PS2 many years ago; I don't know if these classics are still available to purchase online for PS5 or Xbox Series X. Maybe modern ones such as Xbox Forza although I have no idea what I'm looking at unless I'm trying them out. Either Xbox Series X or PS5, although I'm more likely to go for the PS5 digital edition as it is the cheaper one of the two and I have a 300 Mbps fibre connection, so it is not a problem for me to download games. Still, I would like to know the difference between PlayStation Network and GamePass. Any advice would be much appreciated here! :)

I think the Xbox is an all round better system personally. Performance wise the difference between that and the PS is negligible. For me the online / friends interface and the OS is streets ahead of Sony and gamepass is tremendous value. Look at the last page or two of the large PS thread to see forum users opinions of the PS included games of late.
GPU although not as cheap as it once was can still be had for 25 months for the price of a couple of new games. You can also use it on your PC. Plenty of info in its dedicated thread.

The exclusives on the PS are far better than those on Xbox, I don’t think there is an argument there. Most regular posters in here have both systems as do I but if I had to only have one it would be the Xbox.

Thanks, I am not a fan of PS exclusives, and I don't see the fuss about Spiderman on the PS5, but then, I realised I'm in the mid-40s! :D

Looking at the PS store, I assume older games there are just a generation old (PS4), but Gamepass seems to have games from a couple of generations ago or so, especially the classic games. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah gamepass has much more choice. When you link the machine to your app it gets even better as you can manage storage remotely from there. Set a game to download at lunchtime and its finished by the time you get home form work. Theres a good thread on here with loads of info about how to get it cheap legally. I think you get either a month or 3 free anyway with a new console so can make your mind up after that.

I'm mid 40's too. I didn't gel with Spiderman either but am in the vast minority on here. I think the Xbox would suit you better but The Last of Us remakes and Days Gone however are pretty much worth the price of a PS5 alone in my opinion.
