Anyone here registered a classic bike with dvla? have my fathers 1964 bsa nearly completed, just need to do the wiring and get rims replated ect,i know i have to go through the bsa owners club also but not 100% sure

the frame numbers are hard to read too

I have not personally registered a bike but my father has done a couple. I assume your father has no v5c for the bike? Usual requirements are proof of age/originality usually acquired from the owners club of that particular marque, proof of purchase is also required from memory you have to take the bike in an MOT ready condition to a relevant DVLA site for them to check out everything and ensure it is correct, and that can be a game of pot luck depending on who does the assessment i have heard. I can find out a bit more if you wish?

yes thats right,i cant find the v5,i dont get any tax reminders so i know its not on dvla computers ect,its been off the road unstarted since 1983

i know i have to take rubbings of the frame numbers ect for the bsa owners club,it does have a registration number but im hoping i can still keep it without them issuing me a new reg number, its a bit daunting by the sounds of it but im gonna have to go through it soon

my dad past away 5-6yrs ago and i thought id try n fix it up n ride it

What is the bike? BSA but what model? If you join the club and get the dating done there are usually many people happy to advise on the process, if you ensure that the numbers are the same as they were on the old v5 when it last existed you should be able to keep the reg.

yeah numbers are the same,i just thought id ask here before i ventured into bsa owners club, probably have to join/subscribe too

its a bsa c15 250cc
