Went down to Bovingdon to catch the Classic Hot Rod Racing, my dad did this back in the 70's and it was interesting to see how small oval racing was back then.

All the cars were ford anglias and escorts with tuned crossflow or pinto lumps, except for a mini. The cars are very basic and are stripped down and roll caged out but it does make for some good racing.

Anyway, here's some pics...

Is it just the angle of that shot, or is there an awful lot of toe in that rear-end?

Eh, what the hell. Some nice tin there. Thanks for sharing :)

it may be just the angle, they do have some quite odd setups due to the fact that you are only turning right all the time and Bovingdon is a very tight track for Hot Rods, Bovingdon is more of an old banger track which Spedeworth took over.

These pictures kinda make me sad.

I agree that they should be used/raced as was intended. But i dont like the whole 'function over form' thing they have going.

These cars are pretty much end of life when they reach this point. To be honest it's a much better send off than banger racing and these cars are loved, allbeit in a different way. They are the way the are for health and safety.

Fantastic!

I used to go to Hednesford in the 70's with my dad and watch these and it was the first form of motorsport I went to.
