Classical music recomendations

I am after some nice relaxing classical music. I am not a huge fan but am after stuff which is string based i.e. Chellos/Violins etc emotion inducing stuff used in films etc. Any suggestions?

As unclassy as it is, but can anyone list the classical songs that are now most recognisable from films and tv. The ones im more than likely to have heard and appreciate.
