I'm getting together with some friends on friday to watch a bunch of classic movies that none of us have seen before. I was keen to include Citizen Kane and Vertigo but some of my mates have seen them.

Does anyone have any suggestions which might fit the bill?!?!

If you have never watched it I can't recommend 12 Angry Men highly enough, the premise doesn't sound hugely riveting (a jury in one room for almost the entire film) but it is truly a masterclass in how acting is meant to be done.

Assault On Precinct 13 although perhaps not old enough to be a fully fledged classic just yet.

Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb - brilliant, iconic and still relevant to this day.

Bullitt - Great film, great performance by McQueen and a classic car chase.

Get Carter - One of Michael Caine's better roles and then that leads you onto both The Italian Job and Zulu.

Point Blank although you may have a bit of a job getting hold of it, if memory serves I had to buy a region 1 version.

I'm going to stop there but the list miracleboy posted is well worth the look if you have a spare few weeks to start watching them all in. :)

Definately get North By Northwest if you haven't seen it! I suppose it depends on what genres you're after as there is any amount of classics.

Psycho
12 Angry Men
Frankenstein (1931)
Dracula (1931)
It's A Wonderful Life
Rear Window
The Great Escape
High Noon
