Hi
Some info please for old man over 60, I have a 754 Clawhammer 3200 1mbL2
can it be clocked, is it worth new mobo Asus k8nvm its a matx with pci(e) and would fit my matx case.
Never clocked before so its all new to me, have built 2 shuttles in the past and love to play far cry xthreat 2 pus the usual pc requirments thats it so any advice would a help I do read this site and realise I need to read up on clocking.
many thanks for replys.

1. anything can be clocked. :)
2. the onboard graphics of that motherboard are rubbish... with a capital R.
3. it does have a PCI-E slot though so all is not lost...
4. buy this if on a fairly strict budget...
Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GTO² 256MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-101-SP)
Merging the blistering frame-rates of the enthusiast realm with the frugality of the mainstream is where the perfect blend of Hybrid lies, the next generation Sapphire RADEON X800 GTO²! Built upon industry acclaimed tech and tweaked to perfection is the moniker of any Sapphire product and the X800 GTO² does not disappoint with it is 12 Pixel Pipelines (moddable to 16) and 256MB of onboard GDDR3 memory while utilizing a 256-bit memory interface. The only limit to the power you wield is your imagination and the hardware in your PC! Push your PC’s performance threshold and realize the true potential of PCI-Express and the Sapphire RADEON X800 GTO²!

- 400MHz GPU Clock Speed (Highly overclockable)
- 256MB 980MHz GDDR3 memory accelerates the latest cutting edge 3D applications (Highly overclockable)
- 256-bit quad-channel GDDR3 memory interface
- Twelve pixel pipelines (Moddable to sixteen pipelines, see modding guide below)
- Six programmable vertex shader pipelines
- Early reports indicate that with the modded bios these cards have been overclocked upto X850 XT clock speeds which gives a 30% performance boost. (Modding of card and bios does invalidate warranty)

16 Pipeline enable instructions (Modification of BIOS voids warranty!!)

Price: £109.95 (£129.19 Including VAT at 17.5%)

5. if not on a strict budget then an ATI X1800XT would be nice.
6. for clocking info read the sticky at the top of the thread mate, go into your bios and have a look around it to familiarise yourself. dont change anything until you have read up on it though and most importantly... find out how to RESET the bios so if its goes wrong you arent stuck. :)

Many thanks for that info.
My that X800XT sounds nice,But the GTO2 is moor my buget,As to the old 64 754 Clawhammer would there be a large increase in preformance if I went fore say 939 3200 Venice, Asus A8n-vm its a matx.
Once again many thanks

Hi, i had a A64 3400+ clawhammer (2.2ghz/1mb L2) and now have the 3700+ clawhammer (2.4ghz/1mb L2). The 3400+ did not seem to like being clocked to more than 2.34ghz as performance went downhill after that even with a voltage boost. However, my 3700+ is quite a good clocker and i have had it up to 2.75ghz which gives me quite a boost. There are a few on here that have the same cpu as you clocked to around 2.2mhz+. Don't expect too much from it though and don't forget that overclocking will increase heat so you will need the means to expel the heat from your case.

You cannot unlock the multiplier at all. The only ones that are unlocked are the "FX" series. You can lower the multiplier so that you can raise the fsb which overclocks the memory as well. Have a good read up on the subject first though.

As to your question about moving to 939. No. None at all. The only advantage that 939 has is dual channel memory support and that is only 2-5% which is very little. My rig can beat comparable 939 rigs.

HELP PLEASE SIMILAR PROBLEM

Hi, I got a 3400+ Clawhammer with a KV8 Pro, I have been using the Abit uGuru with the default AMD fan and 2x TwinMOS 512MB DDR PC3200 and I got with out problems: CPU freq 2.376 ExClock 216MHZ NBV: 1.60 DDRV 2.70,

I just bought 2x Corsair 1GB DDR XMS4000PT, 1x Zalman CNPS9500-LED Aero Flower, and a 650W PSU, and a few Fans, Can anybody please tell me how Far Can I go with this New Configuration?

What I need to do Now with the new memory and fans? just up the FSB (Ext Clock?) in increments of 5mhz and test the new configuration every time? I need to up the Cpu Voltage and the Other Voltages as well? Any Help is much apreciated to this Newey, Thanks
