I have clean my case/fans of dust swapped from a Abit IP35 Pro to an Asus P5Q-E. Put it all back together and stressed it and my temps are now higher. Reseated it this morning and temps are the same. Im using MX2, can anyone explain this.

Very strange.

Does not sound a lot but 4/6c But under IntelBurn Test 1.9 I have hit 71c.
vcore under load 1.368
Before was 1.37/8 under load if I remember right.

Next too no burn-in with MX-2

what did you clean off the old TIM with?
And how much MX-2 did you use (I always found you needed twice the amount of AS5 and it works better on non-lapped surfaces)
pull off the HS and check it's got good contact if more the 5c differance

Also are you stress testing with same program? most have had revisions in the last few years.
And did you note the ambient temp when you last tested - it's not winter any more.

Did the same my self - Abit IP35 pro to P5Q and power draw at wall was higher.

The Abit was one of the best low power P35 boards. The asus one are the hungriest power P45 boards...bit rubish really, should have done more research.

But - I was able to run my e6600 at 1.1v on the asus, where as 1.35v was the lower the Abit BIOS would go (and it would overvolt it too) Now runs cooler and with less watts used - Have a play with the bios lot's you can do to drop the voltage/heat generation, but keep the same clock speed

Edit:
It could be a more/less accurate temperature sensor in your new motherboard.
Excerlent point - both could be same 'actual' temp just being recorded differently. Need an external thermonitor to really know

To clean the old TIM I used rubbing alcohol (cant remember the real name) its used by a lot of people to clean thiers off.

I thought I have put the line the wrong way (AS5 instructions) but when I took the HS off. I had good contact (TRUE is lapped).

I guess I can play with the bios volts. But Asus Bios is not as easy at abits.

Temps seem to have settled down a bit.
