clean install backup help please :)

Im having issues with the PC where it keeps freezing and the sound buzzes for a second or two at random.

So i'm doing a clean install, which i need to do anyway as i never partitioned my drive properly the 1st time.

My question is; I have a backup file created by Windows Backup saved on a separate HDD of my files only (not a full system image), so, if i do the re-install (format the primary hdd) do i use a restore function in the clean windows install? and does this put all my files back as they were without any file path problems?

also, by doing this, is there a possibility that the problem i have now will re-occur due to the error being within the data files?

The initial problem you describe could have a number of different causes but once you have done a clean install make sure you grab all the latest drivers from the manufacturers website. When you restore the files you backed up they will be placed exactly as they were when you run the backup wizard to start with.
