hi,

on my new laptop it automatically installed windows vista business 64 for me. it also made 2 new partitons, one is a recovery partition, and the other is labeled os tools. ufotuantly my laptop hdd isnt the biggest and cannot be easily upgraded, so i am limited on space. these extra partition take up to 10gig in total which i could desperatly use. i also think that there is a lot of useless junk on my main partition which also is taking up space.

what id like to do is to reinstall a fresh coppy of windows vista and repartition the drive and set it up how i want. i did not get any extra cds with this laptop so i do not have a windows vista business x64 installation cd. i am also worried about the importance of the recovery partition. i guess i could make an image of the partition and keep it on my external drive. is this possible? also is the partition called os tools important or not?

i guess what im asking for is help on how to do a clean install of vista on my laptop. it is a hp compaq 2710p tablet pc.

sorry if i have been unclear.

thanks

clean install is pretty much out of the question with no software to do it with. call ms up and ask them to send u a cd with vista on it first.

u need that anyway incase something goes wrong and u REALLY need to reinstall or repair

disbale system restore
also.

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=C: /for=C: /maxsize=300mb

paste that into a cmd window, (run the cmd as admin)
