Well, all being well...my license is clean again! :D

Got an SP30 on Aug 14th 2004, and seems an eternity ago!

But now, the 3 years are up, so its all good and expired (I know it'll show on the license itself for another year, but won't affect insurance etc, yes?)

Hope i don't get another soon with my new found freedom! hehe!

What do you recommend for cleaning the paper bit? I've just wiped the photocard with a damp rag.

I'll get my coat.

What thingy said.

3 years = Can't be counted for totting up.
4 years = How long is actually stays on for.
5 years = How long the *******ing robbing ****s of insurance ask for and will load your premium for (albeit not a lot). Some insurers might ask for less but it's typically 5 years.

I've been clean for a bit now after getting a SP30 in Jan 2001 :D *touch wood*

Stop me if this is BS but could the insurance company find out you had a driving conviction after the 4 years, since you can get it removed from your paper licence, right?

I think it was merlin who has said in the past that strictly speaking insurance companies have no right to ask you or punish you past 4 years. And that legally you don't have to declare it if it's in the 5th year. But that's just going off memory with no evidence to back it up so make of it what you will. :p

If merlin see's I'm sure he'll correct/give his 2p. :)

would be interested if this is true or not. ***** me off that in the eyes of the law its 4yrs, yet in the eyes of most insurance companies its 5yrs.

Maybe not when you're arranging your insurance, but if you have an accident and they find out, they won't pay out, and you're uninsured.

The number of people who declare 'fixed penalties' as 'convictions' is shocking. Check your small print, some only ask about motoring convictions.....

If you get points, it's a conviction and you have to declare.

If you get a fixed penalty for not wearing a seat belt then no you obviously don't have to declare it.

What are you getting at? All SP30's, TS10's etc you have to declare...?

Unless you're on about something totally different like your mates mum once declared a parking ticket or something?

I would be interested in this too.

You underestimate an insurance company's determination to avoid a payout.

And if your insurer asks you if you have have been awarded points in the last 5 years and you say no because they expired after 3, your insurance is invalid, no **** comes into it.
